Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated November 1, 2026

At a glance

  • We use account and expense information to run AnotherBill and keep shared balances available to your groups.
  • Group members can see shared records. AnotherBill does not move money, connect bank accounts, or sell personal information.
  • Delete your account from Account & profile → Delete Account. For privacy questions or help, contact legal@myproblemsolved.com.

This overview is a guide; the full document below provides the details.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

AnotherBill is an expense-sharing product created and operated by MyProblemSolved LLC (“MPS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located in North Carolina, USA. MPS is responsible for the personal information described in this policy and is the controller where that term applies.

This policy covers anotherbill.com, its account and expense-sharing features, and related support and service communications. For privacy questions, account deletion, or other legal requests, email legal@myproblemsolved.com. Our Terms of Service describe the rules for using AnotherBill.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, username or display name, internal account identifier, password authentication data, verification status, and session and recovery information. We also keep a record of your signup agreement, including the date and versions of the Terms you accepted and Privacy Policy you acknowledged. Supabase handles password authentication; we do not offer a way to view your password.
  • Shared-expense information: group names, membership and roles, participant names (including people without accounts), expense descriptions, optional receipt photos, amounts, currencies, dates, payers, split allocations, exchange-rate entries, balances, recorded payment methods, and reversals. We also keep revisions, timestamps, and records of who performed actions.
  • Invitations: the email address entered by an inviter, inviter and recipient details, group association, join-link information, and invitation status and timing. An existing user can enter information about you before you join a group or create an account.
  • Technical information: our hosting, authentication, and email providers process information such as IP addresses, request and device/browser information, service logs, authentication events, and email delivery or failure details. The app also uses temporary rate-limit records to reduce abuse.
  • Communications: information you provide when contacting us, including your address, message, and information needed to investigate your request.

We obtain information directly from you, from other users who include you in shared records or invitations, and automatically through the systems that run the service. Account details are needed to create and secure an account; expense details are needed to calculate and share balances. You choose what optional descriptions and receipt photos you provide.

AnotherBill does not connect to bank accounts, collect payment-card details through a payment form, access your address book, or request precise location or microphone access. If you choose to add a receipt photo, your device can let you select a photo or use its camera. We receive only the photo you choose, not access to your full photo library. Do not put account numbers, passwords, government IDs, or sensitive health or other unnecessary personal details in expense descriptions or receipt photos.

3. How we use information

We use information to create and authenticate accounts; maintain groups and invitations; calculate and display shared balances; preserve expense, payment, and revision history; send verification and password-recovery emails; respond to requests; diagnose problems; secure the service; prevent misuse; and meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Receipt photos undergo file validation, malware scanning and image conversion before storage. We remove image metadata, including embedded location tags, from the stored copy.

We do not use your expense records to make lending, credit, insurance, or employment decisions. Balance calculations are bookkeeping tools based on users’ entries, not automated decisions that establish a legal debt.

4. What other users can see

AnotherBill is collaborative. Members with access to a group can see its participants, expenses and attached receipt photos, split details, recorded payments, and balances, including records in which they are not a payer or participant. A person who joins later can see the group history available to members. Owners and administrators have additional membership and invitation controls.

Your display name identifies you to group members. Invitation information is shown to the recipient and authorized group administrators; an inviter who already knows your email may learn whether a verified account matches it. Your account email is not a public directory listing.

Share join links only with intended participants. Other users may copy or keep information they can see, and MPS cannot control their copies. Leaving a group or removing a member does not automatically erase the shared ledger. When you delete your account, shared transactions needed by other active members remain under “Deleted user,” as explained in section 7. Contact us if shared records contain information that should be corrected or removed.

5. Service providers and other disclosures

We disclose information to providers that operate the service, including Railway for application hosting, Supabase for authentication and database infrastructure, and Mailgun for account verification and password-recovery email delivery. These providers process the information needed for their functions, such as hosted records, authentication data, or message addresses and contents. Authorized MPS personnel may access information for support, security, and administration.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect people or legal rights, or obtain professional advice. If MPS or AnotherBill is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, relevant information may be disclosed under appropriate confidentiality protections and transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide any notice required by law.

We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising. AnotherBill currently has no advertising trackers or third-party marketing analytics. Sharing within your groups and with operational providers is described above.

6. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential first-party cookies for sign-in sessions and account-recovery security. They allow the service to recognize an authenticated session. You can remove or block cookies through your browser, but doing so may sign you out or prevent account features from working.

We do not use cookies to track your browsing across other websites or enable third parties to do so for advertising. Authentication emails have open and click tracking disabled; requesting an image or link can still generate ordinary hosting and delivery logs.

The service does not change its behavior in response to a browser’s “Do Not Track” signal. Because we do not sell or share information for targeted advertising, a Global Privacy Control opt-out signal does not require a change to those practices.

7. Retention and account deletion

We keep account and group information while it is needed to provide the service. Retention depends on whether an account or shared group remains active, whether records are needed to explain balances or resolve disputes, security and abuse-prevention needs, and applicable legal requirements. There is no single deletion period for all record types.

You can delete your account yourself: open Account & profile, select Delete Account at the bottom, and confirm the “Are you sure” message. On confirmation, we immediately delete your account and private application data, including your profile, invitations, signup agreement record, and recovery information, and revoke your sign-in sessions. The app confirms completion and signs you out. This action is permanent.

Shared transactions and their attached receipt photos remain available to other active group members to preserve their records and balances. We remove your account links and replace your participant name with “Deleted user.” Groups with no other active members and their underlying records are deleted entirely. If you own a shared group, ownership passes to another active member, with an administrator preferred. Old join links for affected groups are revoked. Information independently entered or copied by others may remain; contact legal@myproblemsolved.com about identifying details that need further review.

Unattached receipt uploads expire after one hour and are removed by routine cleanup. Replacing or removing an attached photo deletes that stored copy when you save the expense. Deleting an account erases its unattached uploads; photos attached to shared transactions remain visible to the group and may still contain details printed on the receipt.

For help deleting an account, or to request deletion of other personal information, email legal@myproblemsolved.com, preferably from your account address. We will verify requests and explain any applicable legal, security, or dispute-related exceptions. Provider logs, support communications, and backup copies may remain under their relevant retention processes; deletion is not necessarily immediate across all backups.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, protected authentication sessions, access controls, and database permissions intended to limit access to authorized accounts and personnel. No internet service or storage method can guarantee complete security. Use a unique password, protect your email account and devices, and contact legal@myproblemsolved.com if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not send passwords or recovery links in a support message.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

You can edit your username and change your password in account settings. You can also delete your account by opening Account & profile, selecting Delete Account at the bottom, and confirming the prompt. Deletion is immediate and signs you out; shared transactions are kept under “Deleted user” for other active members as described in section 7. You can review group records you are authorized to access and use the available editing and invitation controls. For other corrections, a copy of your personal information, help with account deletion, or deletion of other personal information, contact legal@myproblemsolved.com. People without an account can also contact us about information another user entered about them.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and appeal a denied request. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including on grounds relating to your particular situation. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Tell us which right you want to exercise. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, explain any refusal or extension, and will not discriminate against you for exercising protected rights. To appeal, reply to our decision or email the same address with “Privacy appeal” in the subject.

You may also complain to your relevant regulator, including your state attorney general, an EEA data protection authority, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. This policy does not assume that every privacy law applies to MPS or that every right applies to every request.

10. International use and legal bases

MPS is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different privacy laws from your home country. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we must use an authorized transfer mechanism, such as applicable contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the locations and safeguards relevant to your data.

Where EEA or UK data protection law applies, our legal bases are performance of our agreement with you for core account and expense-sharing features; legitimate interests in operating a collaborative service, protecting it, resolving issues, and responding to support requests; compliance with legal obligations; and consent when a particular activity requires it. Information about non-account participants is used for the legitimate interest of maintaining users’ shared expense records, subject to those individuals’ rights and interests.

11. Children

AnotherBill is intended for adults aged 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact legal@myproblemsolved.com so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required. Do not create an account for a child or include unnecessary information about children in group records.

12. Changes to this policy

We will post updates at this URL and change the date above. For material changes, we will provide an additional notice through the service or an account email as appropriate, and obtain consent where required before using previously collected information in a materially different way. Contact legal@myproblemsolved.com with questions about this policy or a change.
